Since the pic doesn't really do too much justice on where it can be coming from. I say get a roll of paper towels and come brake clean. Clean all the oil schmeg off everything, run it for a day or two and see where the pattern starts.

One section of the lab I work has a Bio-Safety cabinet. When the motor is on that thing has nothing but air in it. The high intensity UV bilb helps too.
Also UV lighting damages OLED displays so don’t use them on cellphones.

Yeah usually the hotel is the big up front eexpense. After that is usually transportation (Flying, parking, uber/lyft/taxi, etc). Spending money on stuff to but after that. Don't forgoet the food of course...
If possible, see if you can route in bringing your own food or drinks to the con. You might not be able to cook, but stuff like snacks, and sandwiches so that you only have to worry about dinner

If history is consistent, the room bloc information is usually up by May/April. In order to have a room bloc, all the contractual obligations have to be settled.
